"Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens"
- Jimi Hendrix
It doesn't matter the maturity of your business nor your budget, there's always a way to listen to your customers, harness insight and turn understanding into informed action → something's always better than nothing. It's about focusing your efforts on the places that make the greatest impact - and when done so, the work well and truly pays for itself.
Crafting the perfect mix
Businesses have goals, abilities and constraints.
Users want value and to achieve outcomes.
Technology needs to be used purposefully to satisfy both.
I specialise in finding the balance.
I see my clients as partners for the long term. Further, many of my clients become friends, and many of my friends become clients. I love my work, and working with people who are just as passionate about their own craft. It brings me the greatest joy connecting people with new perspectives of their own audience, acting upon understanding, and watching the outcomes flourish.
Understanding informs design.
The following is my favourite interpretation of the Double Diamond, the crux of the end to end user experience process. The double diamond approach is everywhere - the way you likey shop and make decisions - and it's the perfect formula for designing the right thing, and designing it right.
Design with intent
The following continuum is essential for purposeful design, enabling the outcomes people want. Designing without first understanding is designing with no meaning. As there's no single measure for what's effective in design, your approach need's to be unique to each scenario.
Behaviour & Context
Cognition & Emotion
Process & Physical
